2 weeks ago, Sunday, May 14th, my little munchkin turned 4.
So fitting that 'Mother's Day' should happen to fall upon the
same day every so often. What gift could be better than a
healthy, happy, BEAUTIFUL son? :)
Sadly, Ashie doesn't have many kids in his life, so guests
consisted mainly of Nanny-invited folks. Adopted Aunts &
Uncles & the like. He adored being the center of attention!
The theme was Monster trucks, which Ashie chose. Mom & I
spent days decorating her deck with handmade monster truck
mobiles & memorabilia, mostly cut out from mags. This was
the first year Ash was really old enough to help orchestrate
his own party & understand just what the day meant. I lost
count of all the sweet & silly moments - just hope to God
they stay burned in my memory. I think the best part was
just seeing his little eyes light up at the sight of all the
presents & people... and how he kept wanting us to
sing to him over & over.

Ashton painted these of us recently. He isn't even quite
speaking in full sentences yet, and it was only about the
10th time he'd held a brush, so besides how joyful it was
just to watch him get lost in his art, it was also just really
incredible to see him produce such precious pieces at 3!
They are so special. We're going to have them plaqued. |
